A vertical lift stage for component alignment has been unveiled by Aerotech Inc. The ANT-4V provides speed of 50 mm/s, in-position stability and accuracy of 200 nm. It features noncontact direct-drive technology using direct position feedback for the speed, resolution and accuracy needed for the mass production of precision devices. The company says that the compact device requires no maintenance and that this technology offers a throughput advantage over conventional screw- and piezo-based vertical stages. The ANT-4V can be used with Aerotech's MXH multiplier for a resolution of 2 nm.
