ITASCA, Ill., June 18, 2013 — Keyence Corp.’s new VR-3000 series one-shot 3-D measuring macroscope combines the advanced optical design of its digital microscopes with the high-speed measurement and 3-D technology of its displacement gauges to enable repeatable noncontact profiling and measurement over a wide area.
The series’ one-shot 3-D algorithm enables surface measurements such as height, angles and radii to be taken simultaneously; irregularities like waviness, curvature and warpage also can be measured. All measurements in X-Y-Z are traceable to international standards, while an included gauge allows for on-site calibration. Three double-telecentric lenses minimize distortion and ensure accurate measurements throughout the field of view.
The macroscope incorporates a one-click measure feature and will automatically scan and collect 3-D data without the need to set or adjust individual parameters. Measurement assistance functions allow for accurate and repeatable results between users or when measuring multiple targets. Templates can be created to automate the process. Once the data has been collected, users can create reports with the built-in software and export files directly to a CAD program.
The device functions also as a microscope with a magnification range from 12× to 160× and includes a high-resolution digital camera for capturing images up to 9 megapixels. The series can capture fully focused images using an extended-focus algorithm, enhance contrast and texture with high dynamic range, and perform 2-D measurements.
