Horiba Scientific has released electronic-shutter CCDs and electronics for use with its VS7000-CCD-HSE spectrometer as well as other UV-VIS-NIR mini spectrometers.

The VS7000-CCD-HSE offers readout speeds down to 1 ms and e-shuttering down to a few microseconds. The CCD features 2048 pixels and a sensitive-area height of 1 mm, while the device achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of 525:1 in shot-noise conditions on a single pixel. The dynamic range is close to 10,000:1.

Four wavelength coverage options are available: UV-visible (200 to 860 nm); visible (380 to 750 nm); UV-NIR (200 to 1050 nm); and visible-NIR (350 to 1050 nm).

The device is suitable for short-pulse applications in the life sciences, process monitoring and other analytical instrumentation applications using emission, fluorescence, reflectance and absorbance techniques.
