Variable Beam ExpanderThe 1064-nm 2X – 8X Gemma® Variable Beam Expander from Edmund Optics Inc. features a high laser-induced damage threshold and fixed housing length for high-power laser applications with strict spatial requirements.

To minimize beam wander, an internal translation and focusing mechanism allows for magnification adjustments without rotating the lenses. Their adjustable 2 to 8× expansion power allows for easy prototyping to determine suitable system magnification. Nonrotating lenses in a Galilean configuration provide pointing accuracy and a compact housing length of 158 mm. Laser pulses of up to 10 J/cm2 at 1064 nm, 10 ns, 20 Hz are withstood.
