SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 28, 2015 — The OV788 ultralow-power video compression chip from OmniVision Technologies Inc. has an integrated synchronous dynamic RAM, designed for smart-home and security applications.

The compact system-in-package provides small to midsize OEMs with video processing technology that reduces lead times and time to market. The chip is an H.264 video processor application-specific integrated circuit that supports video encoding and decoding up to 720p HD at 30 fps, enabling the still capture output of full-resolution, 8-MP jpeg images.

The OV788 is compatible with a range of Internet-of-Things applications, such as battery-operated intrusion cameras, door locks, video doorbells and 360° multicameras in smart homes.
