SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 22, 2013 — Continuum Inc., a subsidiary of GSI Group, has released Vista, a narrow-linewidth dye laser for precision scanning applications.

A proprietary oscillator allows for narrow linewidth across the tuning curve, while low amplified stimulated emission delivers improved signal-to-noise ratio. Mechanically indexed and optically reseating gratings allow switching from single- to dual-grating combinations, providing a shift from high to ultrahigh resolution in seconds without alignment or optimization.

The device provides a resolution of <0.03 cm–1 and a conversion efficiency >30%. It operates over a wavelength range of 380 to 980 nm, and the optional VistaFX can extend to 206 nm with >30% efficiency.
