SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 26, 2012 — Avago Technologies has announced its Vortex Gearbox line of physical layer transceiver devices supporting Ethernet and optical transport networking (OTN). They feature proprietary 28-nm CMOS SerDes (serializer/deserializer) technology that is compliant with IEEE CAUI and various common electrical interface standards, including CEI-11G-SR, CEI-25G-LR and CEI-28G-VSR. The devices also incorporate the proprietary decision feedback equalization architecture that provides low overall power consumption, low data latency, and good jitter and crosstalk performance.
The Vortex Gearbox AVSP-1104 is a single-chip physical layer transceiver integrated circuit designed for high-density 100-G Ethernet and OTN. It drives both backplane and portside applications. Key features include hole-free operation from 1 to 28 Gb/s, gearbox functionality for full-duplex conversion of four lanes (4 × 25 Gb/s, 4 × 28 Gb/s) to 10 lanes (10 × 10 Gb/s, 10 × 11 Gb/s), an option for configuration as a retimer function for full-duplex transmission of 10 lanes, and programmable transmit/receive equalization of all SerDes interfaces.
Diagnostic software for remote debugging is included.
