fwdmNew Focus Inc. has unveiled a tunable laser for fast testing of WDM telecommunications components. The model 6428 is designed to perform swept-wavelength characterization of passive optical components in seconds. It provides a <2% time-to-wavelength linearity variation over the full scan, with tuning speeds up to 100 nm/s. The device features >dBm optical power output from 1520 to 1570 nm, continuous tuning from 1500 to 1575 nm, and 1-pm wavelength resolution and stability for step-and-measure characterization.
