Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. has expanded its line of white LEDs with the addition of a device that provides a typical flux of 30 lm from a driving current of 250 mA. The TL12W01-D surface-mount LED is suitable for residential and commercial lighting applications that have used conventional incandescent bulbs. With dimensions of 10.5 × 5.0 × 2.1 mm, it also is designed for space-limited applications that require high-brightness LCD backlighting. As a result of its low-thermal-resistance package, the device typically delivers 35 lm/W. It has an operating temperature range of
–40 to 100 °C, and its forward voltage is rated at 3.4 V (typical) at a forward current of 250 mA. Designed for use with automated lead-free production lines, it is compatible with reflow soldering processes at temperatures up to 260 °C.
