Suitable for gimbal windows and sensor detector assemblies, wide-angle broadband anti-reflection (BBAR) coatings from Deposition Sciences Inc. address the needs of unmanned aircraft systems for a durable, angle-insensitive (field of view from 0 to 30°), glare-reducing coating on sapphire substrates. The design is band-selective so that minimum reflectance can be tuned to a particular detector package while visibility (glare) in the photopic spectral sensitivity range of the human eye is minimized. The design delivers an average reflectance of ~2% between 400 and 5000 nm. The coatings are environmentally stable and perform to MIL-C-48497 and MIL-F-48616 standards. Testing is carried out on the coated windows according to specifications for humidity, salt fog, abrasion, temperature cycle, adhesion, solubility and cleanability.
