Z-STAGES The P-540 series microscopy nanofocusing closed-loop Z-stages announced by PI (Physik Instrumente) LP integrate into high-resolution microscopes to allow up to 100-µm travel in the Z-direction, with subnanometer resolution. Their 80 × 80-mm aperture makes them suitable for optical microscopy and inspection applications. They are supplied with a choice of sensors: the higher-precision capacitive and the lower-cost strain gauge. Piezo drives provide optimum vacuum compatibility and extended lifetime. Other applications include nanomanipulation, nanotechnology and scanning microscopy.
