FREIBURG, Germany, Jan. 11, 2008 -- Z-Laser Optoelektronik has expanded its ZQ laser series with a 200-mW model, the ZQ-200, to be launched at Photonics West 2008 (Jan. 19-24, San Jose, Calif.). The series is used primarily in biophotonics, biotechnology, microscopy, interferometry, machine vision and industrial inspection.
The ZQ-200 uses three temperature-stabilized laser diodes focused on a point at a customer-defined distance. The diodes are based on GaN-semiconductor technology and were developed especially for continuous-wave operation, high output power and durability.
The laser operates in the red wavelength range at 643 nms; however, due to a high-performance temperature controller allows the wavelength to be shifted by changing the temperature in steps of 0.05 °C. Important parameters of the peltier-element-like current and voltage can be set accurately (to a tenth) by a connected controller box.
The ZQ-200's robust, compact laser housing makes it suitable for use in harsh environments and enables it to be mounted on breadoards at 25.0-mm or at one-in. spaces. ESD (electrostatic discharge) safety is assured with an additional potential separation between the peltier and laser diode controllers, and a mechanical shutter is featured at the beam emission point.
