REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 13, 2013 — Radiant Zemax LLC’s Zemax 13 Release 2 software for optical and illumination design offers more than 70 new features, enhancements and performance improvements.

The software’s Stock Lens Matching Tool finds the best commercially available lens for a user’s design; the Bidirectional Scatter Distribution Function (BSDF) Material Model Library eliminates errors caused when estimating material scatter coefficients; the Nonsequential Source Diffractive Tool accurately models diffraction in micro-optic systems; and the Grid-Gradient Index for Nonsequential Analysis defines optical material properties in 3-D for precise analysis.

The company also added a MATLAB file conversion tool, CE classes for roadway lighting and quick-focus selection on the visual optimizer.
