The Zephir 2.5 MCT (mercury-cadmium-telluride) camera from Photon etc., first developed for high-speed industrial imaging applications, is now available in a C-mount version and a version that includes a standard objective with 16-mm focal length and a 33.4 × 27-degree field of view.

The camera, based on a 320 × 256 MCT focal plane array, has a frame rate of 346 Hz and delivers quantum efficiency over a 0.8- to 2.5-µm range. Its low dark current and readout noise allow longer acquisition times (1 µs to 150 ms) compared with other short-wave IR cameras, making it suitable for low-light scientific and hyperspectral imaging applications.

Two hyperspectral systems were developed based on the camera: S-EOS and a line-scan system. S-EOS is a wide-field imaging system that is continuously tunable from 1 to 2.5 µm with an FWHM <4 nm for applications ranging from biomedical to materials analysis. The line-scan spectrograph-based system is suitable for sorting or quality control applications.
