Zinc Sulfide OpticsCustom-fabricated zinc sulfide (ZnS) optics from Laser Research Optics, a division of Meller Optics Inc., are water-clear with minimum scatter, providing high transmission capabilities across a broad wavelength spectrum.

The ZnS optics can be supplied as lenses and windows in planoconvex, concave, meniscus and flat configurations. They are suitable for single-aperture multispectral systems that must perform from 0.4 to 12 μm.

Manufactured using hot isostatic pressing, the optics provide enhanced clarity, hardness and scratch resistance. They are available with an optical density from 0.5 to 3 in. with typical tolerances of 0.001 to 0.005 in. and thickness to 0.002 in.

Applications include military and homeland security thermal imaging systems.
