NEUCHÂTEL, Switzerland, July 23, 2013 — The new iPOS4808 BX-CAT drive from Technosoft covers medium- to high-volume applications for control of rotary or linear brushless, DC brush, and step motors of up to 400 W and 50 V.
The device delivers 8 A continuous and 20 A peak current capability and comes equipped with two retractable feedback connectors. Based on proprietary MotionChip technology, it can operate either as a standard EtherCAT drive that accepts the CAN protocol over EtherCAT, or as an intelligent drive that can be programmed to execute complex motion profiles at drive level using a built-in motion controller and Technosoft Motion Language.
The drive can be used in dual-loop control applications where motor and load sensors can be single-ended, differential or sine/cosine encoders; digital and linear Halls motor sensors are also accepted. It is functional with EtherCAT communication cycles down to 200 µs for all working configurations, including open-loop microstepping or closed-loop control of two- or three-phase steppers; DC brushed-motor control; and sinusoidal or trapezoidal control of brushless motors.
