BELFAST, Northern Ireland, April 6, 2011 — Andor Technology plc has launched the iStar range of scientific-grade intensified CCD cameras for rapid, nanosecond time-resolved imaging and spectroscopy applications.
The instruments extract the best from CCD sensor and gated image intensifier technologies, achieving a good combination of rapid acquisitions rates and ultrahigh sensitivity down to single photon. High quantum-efficiency image intensifiers produce good detection performance, thermoelectric cooling to -40 ºC, 500-kHz photocathode gating rates and enhanced intensifier noise reduction.
Low jitter, low insertion delay gating electronics and nanosecond-scale optical gating provide timing accuracy down to a few tens of picoseconds, allowing ultraprecise synchronization of complex experiments through the devices’ comprehensive range of input/output triggering options.
The cameras can achieve acquisition speeds of >29,000 spectra per second, while offering low readout and thermal noise as well as up to 50% quantum efficiency for high sensitivity. They interface easily to the company’s range of high-end spectrographs to provide fully integrated, prealigned and precalibrated detection for challenging spectroscopy applications.
