BELFAST, Northern Ireland, Oct. 28, 2010 — Andor Technology PLC has introduced the iXon X3 dedicated, high-end yet accessible ultrasensitive electron-multiplying CCD scientific camera platform.
The quantitative scientific digital cameras deliver fast frame rates, and proprietary UltraVac vacuum technology ensures deep cooling and complete protection of the sensor.
The OptAcquire feature optimizes the cameras for a wide variety of applications in a single click. The Count Convert feature allows users to quantitatively capture and view data in units of electrons or photons, either in real time or postprocessing.
Patented RealGain technology offers automated recalibration of the linear electron-multiplying gain scale, alongside anti-aging protection. The spurious noise filter offers intelligent algorithms to filter spurious clock-induced charge, dark current and single-photon events from the background, with minimal effect on signal integrity. Cropped sensor mode offers faster frame rates than standard subarray region-of-interest mode.
Four models are available. The X3 860 has a 128 × 128-pixel format with a 24-µm pixel size, and it operates at 513 fps. The X3 885 has a 1000 × 1000-pixel format and an 8-µm pixel size, and it operates at 31 fps. The X3 888 has a 1024 × 1024 format with 13-µm pixels and operation at 9 fps, and the X3 897 has a 512 ×512-pixel format, with 16-µm pixel size, and it operates at 35 fps.
