IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH has announced that a selection
of its 1.2-mega-pixel uEye cameras will be using the ICX-445 CCD sensor from Sony.
The 1/3-in. sensor with 1280 x 960-pixel resolution combines a high frame rate with good light
sensitivity. Particularly sensitive in the near-infrared range, the sensor is suitable
for use in traffic surveillance and in industrial manufacturing environments. It
is available in color and monochrome versions for the USB cameras of the SE series
with standard housing, for the RE series in IP65/67 design and for all GigE models.
Compared with the ICX-205 1/2-in. version, the new sensor provides about twice the sensitivity and up to double the
frame rate. The GigE uEye SE and the IP65/67-rated GigE uEye RE cameras deliver
up to 28 fps.
