Silicon-Based Optical Filter Splits Light Across a Range of Wavelengths
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 7, 2018 — Researchers have designed a new optical filter on a chip that can process optical signals from across a very wide spectrum of light at once. The broadband, low-loss, transmissive dichroic filter can simultaneously achieve single-cutoff operation, octave-wide optical bandwidths, and sharp filter roll-offs. The filter can match the broadband coverage and precision performance of bulky dichroic filters, but can be manufactured using traditional silicon-chip fabrication methods. It is based
