VCSEL News
Company Advances 1310-nm GSE Lasers
Feb 1, 2003 — Photodigm Inc. of Richardson, Texas, has created a 1310-nm grating-outcoupled surface-emitting (GSE) laser with single-mode output powers of up to 6 mW. The technology provides the performance of a distributed-feedback laser with the advantages of a VCSEL, according to the company. The laser uses an edge-emitting epitaxial material structure and first- and second-order gratings for the distributed Bragg reflectors and the outcoupler. Its design may result in cost savings and enhanced...
Honeywell International-VCSEL Optical Products
Jan 1, 2003 — The growth of gigabit optical networking relies on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) for implementing parallel optical interfaces. Traditional manufacturing of VCSELs has suffered from high costs and lack of standard packaging. The...
VCSELs Expand Communications Potential
Jan 1, 2003 — It is fair to say that the introduction of vertical-cavity self-emitting laser (VCSEL) technology in the mid- to late 1990s enabled the widespread deployment of fiber optic links within an enterprise. The devices provided the right combination of...
