Chromacity, Heriot-Watt Collaborate on Research, Commercialization Initiatives
EDINBURGH, Scotland, Dec. 28, 2020 — Ultrafast laser manufacturer Chromacity and Heriot-Watt University have formalized a five-year partnership, enhancing the collaborators’ existing relationship. The agreement positions Chromacity to commercialize Heriot-Watt-led academic research in laser-related photonics, according to a shared press release. Joint funding applications, research projects, and technology licensing agreements are among the areas the partnership will help to explore and develop. Heriot-Watt will
On-Chip Laser Light Generates Spectrum of Colors
GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 16, 2020 — National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and University of Maryland researchers demonstrated the ability to convert invisible near-infrared laser light into multiple visible colors, using newly introduced microchip technology. The...
Tunable Laser Light Sources Advance Nanophotonics Research
Sep 28, 2018 — A considerable part of contemporary photonics research that investigates the interaction of light with nanoscale objects — nanophotonics — is motivated by the commercial potential of real-world devices. A vast number of experimental...
Tunable Laser Light Sources Advance Nanophotonics Research
Jul 26, 2018 — A considerable part of contemporary photonics research that investigates the interaction of light with nanoscale objects — nanophotonics — is motivated by the commercial potential of real-world devices. A vast number of experimental studies call for...
Ultrafast Optics Faces Challenges Outside of Research Labs
Jul 10, 2017 — Ultrafast optics is currently a scientifically dominated area with a lot of dynamics in both research and development. Often, complex setups make it challenging to create compact devices that can be employed for applications outside of the...
Hybrid CARS technology images label-free biopsies
JENA, Germany – A new technique takes the sting out of skin biopsies – in fact, it allows doctors to look for disease with no skin contact at all. The label-free, in vivo 3-D optical biopsy uses a hybrid multiphoton tomography and coherent anti-Stokes Raman...
Koheras to Market Aculight's Argos in Europe
Mar 10, 2008 — Laser technology developer Aculight Corp. of Bothell, Wash., and fiber laser maker Koheras of Birkerød, Denmark, announced they have signed a joint marketing agreement for Aculight's Argos single-frequency, continuous-wave, multiwatt tunable optical...
Aculight Develops Fiber-Pumped OPO
Apr 19, 2005 — BOTHELL, Wash., April 19 -- Aculight Corp., a manufacturer of laser technologies for industrial and government applications, said it has developed a novel fiber-pumped singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that provides continuous...
Tunable Source Produces Microsecond Pulses in the Mid-IR
Jan 1, 2004 — A collaboration among scientists at Nederlands Centrum voor Laser Research bv and the University of Twente, both in Enschede, the Netherlands, and at Laser Zentrum Hannover eV in Germany has resulted in what they believe is the first optical...
