Evident, Partners Advance Live-Cell Imaging Instrumentation
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 29, 2023 — Life science imaging systems producer Evident has collaborated with illumination and imaging technology company 89 North and advanced microscopy systems producer CrestOptics to promote confocal spinning-disk technology to advance live-cell imaging. The technology around which the collaboration has formed combines microscopes and optics from Evident with spinning-disk confocal platforms from CrestOptics and laser diode illuminators from 89 North. Glomerulus z-stack at 60x. Captured on
Laser Endomicroscopy Enables Real-time Detection of Lung Cancer
PHILADELPHIA, May 23, 2022 — Researchers at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania have developed a method to detect lung cancer at the cellular level in real time during biopsy. The method ensures earlier detection of cancer cells that may have been too...
Laser Speckle Method Captures Blood Flow in Microvasculature
SINGAPORE, March 28, 2022 — Researchers at the National University of Singapore developed a confocal laser speckle autocorrelation method to image dynamic flow in microvasculature. The technique is label-free and enables real-time and quantitative imaging of blood flow on the...
3D Visualization Method Reveals Molecular Position, Orientation, Oscillations
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 26, 2020 — Researchers at the University of Rochester and the Fresnel Institute in France developed a method for visualizing molecules’ position and orientation in 3D, as well as their oscillations. The technique could allow for greater insights into the...

MBF to Distribute for SVI
WILLISTON, Vt., Nov. 19, 2010 — MBF Bioscience and SVI (Scientific Volume Imaging BV) of the Netherlands announced today that MBF Bioscience is now an authorized worldwide distributor of SVI’s Huygens deconvolution software for the scientific community. Deconvolution is the...
The art of microspectroscopy
Feb 28, 2010 — Martin noted that both spectra and high-resolution digital images can be acquired with the company’s microspectrophotometers, also known as microspectrometers (including its QDI 2010 model), which are designed to measure the UV-VIS-NIR spectra of...
Neurons Glow in 'Brainbow'
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 2, 2007 -- The circuitry of the brain is being imaged as never before thanks to a multicolor fluorescent protein labeling technique called "Brainbow." Brainbow allows researchers to tag neurons with roughly 90 distinct colors, a huge leap over the mere...
Medical Optics a FiO Feature
WASHINGTON, Sept. 13, 2007 -- Using tiny implantable cameras to restore sight, lasers to treat infertility and light to detect malaria are a few of the medical research advances to be discussed during Frontiers in Optics 2007 (FiO), the 91st Annual Meeting of the Optical Society...
