Corning to Reopen NC Fiber Plant; Reports Q1 Profits
CORNING, N.Y., April 25, 2007 -- Corning's first-quarter profit rose 27 percent, exceeding expectations despite decreased display sales, the company announced today. It also said it plans to reopen a portion of its Concord, N.C., optical fiber manufacturing facility and that it will take approximately six to nine months to restart fiber manufacturing. Production will be paced to meet market demand, the company said.
