In this webinar, you will learn how to design better and more efficient luminaires with the desired angular and spatial output using Lambda Research’s TracePro software. TracePro is a 3D CAD virtual prototyping program with the horsepower and tools to simulate and design luminaires. It offers lighting designers an accurate, comprehensive design environment.

Presenter Dave Jacobsen will demonstrate detailed procedures for modeling light energy propagation in a luminaire model; producing desired output objectives; and optimizing models for light efficiency and output.

About TracePro:
With TracePro, models are created by importing from a CAD program or by directly creating the solid geometry. Rays propagate through the model with portions of the flux of each ray allocated for absorption, specular reflection and transmission, fluorescence and scattering. TracePro can be used to analyze light distributions in illumination and imaging systems; lumens exiting, absorbed, and incident at the component and system levels; candela distributions; optical efficiency, luminance and radiance; photorealistic rendering; and fluorescence effects of phosphors. It allows designers and engineers to accurately predict the performance and aesthetics of a finished product with fewer costly prototypes.

Dave Jacobsen, Lambda Research Corporation
Dave Jacobsen is a senior applications engineer at Lambda Research Corporation with over 30 years of optical engineering experience. Jacobsen is Lambda Research Corporation's primary sales engineer and teaches many TracePro training classes in the U.S. and worldwide. Prior to coming to Lambda Research Corporation, he worked as a principal optical engineer at PerkinElmer, formerly EG&G, working with xenon flashlamp-based systems for illumination, machine vision and process control as well as designing spectroscopy systems for biomedical applications.
