About This Webinar
Lenses with higher degrees of freedom, such as aspheres and especially freeform surfaces, offer tremendous advantages to the design of optical systems. Their ability to help reduce the number of lenses in complex optical systems without diminishing performance allows for lighter weight and more compact assemblies.

The manufacture of freeform optical surfaces, however, requires the use of complex subaperture tools that make both their production and measurement more challenging. Schwade discusses manufacturing challenges associated with freeform optics and covers emerging technological solutions.

***This presentation premiered during the 2021 Photonics Spectra Conference Optics track. For information on upcoming Photonics Media events, see our event calendar here.
