ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Photoacoustic imaging is a hybrid technique with tremendous potential in many clinical applications, including cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring. However, clinical translation of photoacoustic imaging is hindered by the requirement for bulky and expensive pulsed lasers for tissue illumination. Because of their portability and affordability, high-power LED arrays are increasingly being used in biomedical photoacoustic imaging. After introducing the concept of LED-based photoacoustic imaging, Mithun Kuniyil Ajith Singh demonstrates its structural, functional, and molecular imaging capabilities using several preclinical and pilot clinical imaging examples.

***This presentation premiered during the 2021 BioPhotonics Conference. For more information on Photonics Media conferences, visit events.photonics.com.

About the presenter:
Mithun Kuniyil Ajith SinghMithun Kuniyil Ajith Singh, Ph.D., is an engineering scientist with extensive experience in preclinical and clinical photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging. He is currently the research and business development manager at CYBERDYNE Inc. in the Netherlands, where he initiates and coordinates various scientific projects in collaboration with globally renowned research groups, focusing especially on the clinical translation of LED-based photoacoustic imaging technology. Singh earned his doctorate in 2016 from the University of Twente under the supervision of professor Wiendelt Steenbergen. He has published multiple international journal articles and book chapters focused mainly on accelerating the translation of photoacoustic imaging from bench to bedside, and he is the editor of the first book published on the subject of LED-based photoacoustic imaging (Springer Nature, 2020).
