Recent advancements in imaging sensors have allowed machine vision systems to achieve high levels of performance that were previously unattainable. However, these sensor advancements complicate the process of selecting imaging lenses. Larger sensor sizes, higher pixel counts, and faster readout speeds affect lens selection, and additional trends, such as extended dynamic range, also add requirements to imaging optics. Sischka explains how to best pair lenses with this new generation of sensors, to allow machine vision integrators to take full advantage of these sensors’ new capabilities.
