About This Webinar
Thermal cameras remain a powerful choice, continually advancing with technologies like high-operating-temperature Mercury Cadmium Telluride (HOT MCT), Type-II Superlattices (T2SL), and microbolometers to meet diverse requirements. However, some applications allow a small-size detector array to replace a full-size thermal camera without sacrificing performance—while significantly improving power efficiency or form factor.
Mijas examines the current market for detector arrays of up to 32 pixels, specifically on the MWIR/LWIR spectral ranges and comparing different solutions. The discussion explores various applications, highlighting their advantages and drawbacks compared to thermal cameras with a focus on railway and defense industries. Additionally, the presentation will provide insight into IR detector arrays as key components for compact spectrometers, with potential uses in sorting, environmental monitoring, and industrial process control.

About the presenter

Jedrzej Mijas has been working at VIGO Photonics as an Application Engineer since 2020, specializing in spectroscopy and gas sensing applications. During his studies at the University of Warsaw, where he earned a Master of Science degree, he gained broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience in IR optics. His expertise gained in academia was confirmed by his construction of a TDLAS system for trace ethane detection in human breath for his master's thesis.
