Imaging system designers rely on latency performance data to help determine how quickly a system can process, analyze and in some applications display images. Low latency enables higher-speed quality inspection, and is critical for applications such as image-guided surgery and military vetronic systems where end-users require real-time imaging data to make decisions. This paper provides an overview on the constituent elements of latency, and provides latency test results for image transfer over a GigE Vision link.
