Dow Corning, NeoPhotonics To Develop Photonic Crystal Technology

MIDLAND, Mich., June 6 -- Dow Corning Corp. and NeoPhotonics Corp. have formed a strategic partnership to develop the next generation of photonic crystal technology.

"We believe that photonic crystal technology will be one of the key enablers of next-generation optical telecommunications," NeoPhotonics president and CEO Tim Jenks said. "This relationship between NeoPhotonics and Dow Corning is the right combination of capabilities to make this happen."

"Photonic crystals have the potential of creating new opportunities in many applications and industries," said Dave Cornelius, Dow Corning New Ventures Photonic program director. "We are excited about the potential of combining NeoPhotonics' nanomaterials and device technologies with Dow Corning's silicon-based materials technology and solutions, and with the unlimited possibilities it can deliver to the photonic industry."
