The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected a new foreign secretary and four members to its governing council. All terms begin July 1: George Bugliarello, chancellor, Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, N.Y., will become the academy's foreign secretary. During his four-year term, he will oversee the international activities of the NAE and coordinate its contacts with engineering academies in other countries. He succeeds Harold K. Forsen, retired senior vice president, Bechtel Corp., Kirkland, Wash., who has served as foreign secretary since 1995. Newly elected as councillor is John B. Slaughter, president and CEO, National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, New York City. Re-elected to second terms as councillor are Ruth M. Davis, president and CEO, Pymatuning Group Inc., Alexandria, Va.; Michael P. Ramage, retired executive vice president, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Co., Moorestown, N.J.; and Paul E. Torgersen, John W. Hancock Jr. chair and president emeritus, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg.. . .Imaging Diagnostic Systems announced it has submitted a premarket approval application with the US Food and Drug Administration to seek marketing approval for its computed tomography laser mammography (CTLM) system. The CTLM system visualizes the blood supply of tumors without the use of x-rays and without breast compression.
