Billerica, Mass.-based GSI Lumonics Inc. announced it has received a multisystem order for its WaferTrim M310 systems from Analog Devices Inc. The systems will be delivered in the first and second quarters of 2004. Laser trim is used in the production of precision linear and mixed signal devices with increased functionality on smaller geometry die. It assists in the process to produce multiple device types from the same die. ... Mercy Ships, the fleet of hospital ships that deliver health care to needy patients in developing nations, will soon be able to provide laser treatments for ophthalmology surgery as a result of a partnership with Nidek, a Japanese manufacurer of laser systems and diagnostic equipment.
