Agilent Technologies Inc. has named Rick Burdsall, vice president of IT Solution Services, as vice president and CIO. He replaces Marty Chuck, who left Agilent earlier this year. Burdsall joined HP in 1991 as a product marketing manager within the Semiconductor Products Group. From 1991 through 2000, he held a variety of marketing positions at both HP and Agilent and in 2001 was promoted to vice president of the Agilent.com e-business program. He was appointed vice president of IT Solution Services in 2003.    . . .    Fusion UV Systems Inc., a Gaithersburg, Md., supplier of ultraviolet (UV) curing systems and UV-based process systems, has been appointed a distributor of Elsicon's OptoAlign polarized UV exposure systems for LCD-related applications in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Polarized UV exposure systems are used to produce anisotropic materials for various applications. Fusion UV Systems is a member company of Spectris plc, in Surrey, England.    . . .    Irvine Sensors Corp., of Costa Mesa., Calif., announced that its CEO, Robert G. Richards, will retire effective April 3. He will be succeeded by John C. Carson, the current president and COO and a founder and director of the company. Richards, who will continue to be a director, had retired as president of Aerojet Electronic Systems Division and was on Irvine Sensors' scientific advisory board when he became its CEO in 2000. The company sells stacked chip assemblies and miniaturized cameras and research and development related to high-density electronics, miniaturized sensors, optical interconnection technology, high-speed routers, image processing and low-power analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for various systems applications.    . . .    Hiro Kimura, executive vice president and a director of Metrologic Japan Co. Ltd., was promoted to president of the subsidiary of Metrologic Instruments Inc., a Blackwood, N.J.-based maker of bar code scanning and high-speed automated data capture systems using laser, holographic and vision-based technologies. Kimura will remain a director.
