TeraXion Acquires DiCos Technologies

Photonics Spectra
Jun 2005
In Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada, TeraXion Inc., a developer of optical filters for industrial applications and communications networks, has acquired DiCos Technologies. DiCos' products stabilize the frequency of light sources to a precision similar to atomic clocks. The move is part of TeraXion's strategy to expand its range of products and services in new photonics markets.

optical filters
An optical element that blocks or transmits a selected wavelength of light. Optical filters can either be absorption filters or interference filters. Absorption filters absorb any unwanted wavelengths while the interference filter will use the effects of constructive and destructive superposition to transmit only the selected wavelength.
