To facilitate laser shutter integration for OEMs and researchers, nmLaser Products Inc. has launched online applications tutorials and other resources for its high-irradiance laser shutters. An introductory tutorial discusses shutter basics, the principles of the patented cantilever flexure beam technology and the safety-interlock and process-control and modulation/exposure/pulse-gating families of shutters. A segment on controllers includes a diagram of a capacitor discharge circuit. Application notes address such areas as contamination, shutter lifetime, user-built circuits, thermal and mechanical mounting, and beam properties, alignment and polarization. A model finder expedites the shutter selection process based on criteria such as beam size, output power, repetition rate and pulse damage thresholds.
