Infrared imaging systems developer Flir Systems Inc. announced this week it is offering five free nights lodging and a free guest pass -- to be used at its seventh annual InfraMation Conference -- and a $100 gift card to anyone who registers by June 30. The conference will be held Oct. 23-27 at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. Inframation, which is open to thermographers of all skills levels, offers clinics through which they can renew or maintain their professional certification or be challenged with new thermography principles and methodologies, said David Francoeur, director of marketing at Flir. The 2006 conference will include clinics on mechanical applications, building science, research and development applications, the new ThermaCAM GasFindIR, ThermaCAM Reporter 7 software, equine thermography and thermographer safety. Each year, 40 submitted abstracts are picked to represent the nation's best practices for infrared thermography. InfraMation 2006 will also cover how infrared thermography benefits applications such as plant predictive maintenance, thermal research and development, online process monitoring and control and nondestructive testing, and getting the highest return on investment from infrared cameras. Visit www.inframation.org or call Jon Richards at (800) 254-0632 for details and registration information.

thermography
Thermography is a technique that involves the use of an infrared imaging device, called a thermal camera or infrared camera, to detect and visualize the infrared radiation emitted by objects. This technology allows for the creation of thermographic images, also known as thermograms, where variations in temperature are represented by different colors or shades. The basic principles of thermography are as follows: Infrared radiation emission: All objects with a temperature above absolute zero...
