MILPITAS, Calif., April 13, 2006 -- JDSU today announced it will acquire Test-Um Inc., a provider of home networking test instruments for the FTTx (fiber to the x) and digital cable markets. JDSU said the acquisition is expected to close in the current quarter; financial terms were not disclosed.

JDSU, a provider of communications test and measurement solutions and optical products for the telecommunications industry, said the acquisition creates new sales markets for Test-Um's home networking product portfolio and JDSU's field test instruments for broadband access networks. Test-Um is based in Camarillo, Calif., and the company and its 30 employees will be integrated into JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement Product Group.

"The deployment of broadband networks and the widespread availability of affordable broadband Internet access are driving adoption of new video and other advanced communications services for the home," said John Peeler, executive vice president of JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement Group. "With our acquisition of Test-Um, JDSU will add an important set of test instruments to help our customers quickly, efficiently and reliably deliver the IP-based triple play services (IP-based voice, data and video) consumers are demanding."
