May 2006
Kemet Corp., a maker of capacitors used in computers, telecommunication equipment and military, medical, automotive and consumer electronics, recently celebrated the grand opening of its second production facility in Suzhou, China, and announced plans to add a third within the next two years. Suzhou Plant 2, which makes the company's Ko-Cap line of organic polymer tantalum capacitors, doubled Kemet's investment and floor space in China to $70 million and 20,000 square meters, respectively, the company said. Kemet currently employs 940 people in the Suzhou area and said its Asia customer base is its fastest-growing, accounting for 38 percent of sales in fiscal 2006.

A device that accumulates and stores electrical energy to introduce capacitance into a circuit. Basically, it is composed of two electrical conductors, separated by an insulating medium.
