Ultrafast fiber laser maker IMRA America Inc. of Ann Arbor, Mich., and SPI Lasers PLC, a Southampton, England, manufacture of fiber lasers, today announced an agreement granting SPI the use of IMRA patents for amplification technology, including US Patent No. 5,818,630 "Single-Mode Amplifiers and Compressors Based on Multi-Mode Fibers" and a family of patents related to products that use large-mode-area double-clad fibers.
