Imperx Adds 5 Imaging System Developers

Imperx Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla., a provider of digital cameras and frame grabbers for machine-vision systems used in the medical, defense, surveillance and astronomy markets, announced it has hired five imaging system developers for its new division focused on high-end commercial and military-grade imaging product development. All five have spent much of their careers at the NASA Imaging Technology Space Center at Florida Atlantic University. Operations and business development manager Fouad Guediri has more than 20 years of experience working on technologies such as HDTV cameras, high-resolution ultrasound imaging, and real-time video compression. Principal engineer Barry Rynk specializes in FPGA (field-programmable gate array) design for image and audio processing. Engineer John Peter Marcinka worked for more than 16 years on NASA-sponsored projects involving high definition cameras, recorders, and compression units. Engineer Al Moreno has expertise in firmware and hardware development and has worked on wavelet and pyramid-based image compression as well as HD cameras such as quad-HDTV. Engineer Thanh S. Van is a software specialist with expertise in embedded operating systems, optical test and measurement, and video processing. “We are building up our team and accelerating product development, especially in high-end imaging systems,” said Imperx President Petko Dinev. “With the expertise and experience we now can field, we can tackle even the most demanding imaging requirements. Whatever challenges our customers face, our team has probably seen them before and already solved them.” The company said it has also recently added national sales and customer service support staff.
