The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Imago Scientific Instruments of Madison, Wis., have announced plans to create a facility for atom probe tomography research, where they will collaborate on projects. The technology, for use in studying semiconductors and other materials, will enable researchers to determine the position and type of atoms in a sample and to analyze structures in three dimensions.
