LASER SAFETY
The “Laser Safety Officer Online” course offered by the Laser Institute of America uses a nonmathematical approach to teach the duties of laser safety officer as described in the ANSI Z136.1 Safe Use of Lasers standard. It includes information on lasers and optics, bioeffects, beam and nonbeam hazards, control measures, training requirements, and laser safety program development and administration. Federal, state and international laser safety regulations are addressed. The course is worth 3.0 American Board of Industrial Hygiene certification maintenance points, 32 American Academy of Health Physics continuing education credits and 3.0 Board of Laser Safety certification maintenance points. The registration fee for the course is $795 for members and $895 for nonmembers.
