Chemimage, USDA Cooperate on Imaging

ChemImage Corp. of Pittsburgh and the US Department of Agriculture‘s Agricultural Research Service in Washington have entered into a cooperative research and development agreement to develop high-speed imaging technology for monitoring chemical and biological contaminants in food. Collaborating on the development of laboratory and Raman imaging devices, they initially will focus on the detection of the chemical compound melamine, which has been found in imported food and which caused harm to pets in the US in 2007.
