Laser Atlanta Nabs Mapping Patent

Laser Atlanta LLC has received US patent 7,493,086 for its new wireless mapping product technology. It covers the wireless transmission of data in laser mapping applications used by engineers, and defense, law enforcement and other government agencies. The technology increases the efficiency of the mapping process by combining laser rangefinding and mapping operations with wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth. It allows the data collection device to be operated by the person who marks each target for entry. According to the Atlanta-based company, this efficiency also provides for more accurate descriptions of targets because they are entered by the person closest to them. Such improvements can prove especially beneficial at times when there is heavy traffic and officers have to clear roads blocked by an accident. This technology can also be used in civil engineering, intelligent traffic systems, road construction, building demolition, land surveying and in law enforcement fields.
