Going golfing? Bring your laser.
Apr 2009
Apr. 20, 2009 — Once restricted to laboratories, lasers are now essential for many consumer applications. These include video game consoles, CD players, laser printers, laser pointers, laser hair removal, laser dentistry and more.

One of the coolest gadgets on the market today is a laser alignment tool called the Lino L2. It can be used for aligning picture frames, the kitchen sink or anything else in housing design and construction that might need aligning. It can be used for land surveying as well.

Beamball.jpgAnother interesting device helps golfers improve their short-range game. It's called the O'Beam. It is a laser pointer that attaches to the visor of a hat. As a golfer tees up, he can see the beam on the ball. This helps the golfer steady his head.

Another laser golf training aid, the Laser Putting Alignment System, or LPAS, sits on the ground and provides feedback on targeting, club face orientation and ball impact zone.

Handheld optical laser device containing a semiconductor or DPSS source. The output is corrected via internal collimating optics. For typical use the output is reduced to eyesafe operation power. (5 mW)
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
