Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Feb 2007
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, N.Y., has licensed its adaptive scanning optical microscope technology to Thorlabs Inc. of Newton, N.J. The microscope — which the institute developed and Thorlabs will market — uses a mirror and camera to simultaneously scan and photograph the specimen, creating a mosaic out of the resulting images. This gives researchers the potential to view larger areas of a sample under higher magnification.
