KYOTO, Japan, April 1, 2010 — Kyocera Corp. has agreed to purchase part of the thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD design and manufacturing business of Sony Corp. and its subsidiary Sony Mobile Display Corp.

Kyocera will acquire the thin-film transistor LCD facilities of Sony Mobile in Yasu City effective June 1, 2010. Existing employment contracts will be assigned to Kyocera, and employees will be transferred on the same date.
