Cantimer Inc.

Cantimer Inc. of Norwood, Mass., and Advanced Instruments Inc. of Menlo Park, Calif., have jointly announced their signing of a license and product development agreement. Under terms of the agreement, the latter company, a supplier of freezing-point cryoscopes and osmometers, has received an exclusive license to the former company’s sensor technology for select applications in the biotech market. Their product development agreement allows Cantimer, a proprietary sensor technology platform provider, to develop a specific detector to integrate into Advanced Instruments’ products for in situ monitoring of osmolality in bioreactors and fermenters.

1. A device designed to convert the energy of incident radiation into another form for the determination of the presence of the radiation. The device may function by electrical, photographic or visual means. 2. A device that provides an electric output that is a useful measure of the radiation that is incident on the device.
