May 2010
MELVILLE, N.Y., May 17, 2010 — Digital imaging and advanced office solutions provider Canon USA Inc. announced recently that it had broken ground at its new North and South American headquarters campus in Melville.

The new facility will serve as one of the company’s three worldwide headquarters. The other two are located in Tokyo and London.

Featuring environmentally friendly elements, the new facility’s design will emphasize the use of natural light and the incorporation of energy-efficient equipment and materials in construction, as well as landscaping that will include native species and drought-resistant vegetation.

Besides providing a green approach to development, the new facility will bring thousands of jobs and an economic boost to the area.

“The ground breaking of Canon USA’s Americas headquarters in Melville is truly a win-win for Long Island,” said US Sen. Charles Schumer. “This landmark project will be an anchor for the Route 110 corridor and will provide a boost to the local economy by creating thousands of jobs.”
